Dunkeld

The Douglas fir growing in the courtyard behind Dunkeld Cathedral is reported to have the largest girth of any Douglas fir growing in the UK. I can safely say for sure, it is the widest Douglas fir I’ve ever seen! The tree is not the tallest one out there, but that’s not to say it’s a short tree; it’s still very tall. An all round magnificent tree in a spectacular part of the world. Perthshire is called ‘Big Tree Country’ for a good reason.
